Maxine M. Trujillo, 91, passed away peacefully at the family home on May 30, 2011. She was born on March 3, 1920 in Costilla, New Mexico to Fidel Arellano and Eva Padilla Arellano where she lived before moving Salida, Colorado. There she worked and raised her three daughters then moved to Pueblo in the early 1960’s. When she wasn’t working to support her family, she enjoyed crocheting and embroidery work. Later, she enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos and her favorite, number 17 of the Colorado Rockies. Going to Cripple Creek was another favorite pastime. Maxine also enjoyed collecting recipes. She enjoyed making anise cookies, empanaditas and her homemade jerky which she happily gave out during the holidays. She loved her family dearly as her family loved her. Her special loves were all her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Sam; daughter Lydia; grandsons Larry and George Hughes; siblings Avelinda Trujillo, Fidelito Arellano, Eva Gallegos, Ene Arellano and Popo Arellano. Maxine is survived by her daughters Rose Trujillo, and Katie Hughes; grandchildren Sheila Hughes, and Reba Hughes; great-grandchildren Angelina Bachicha, Domonic Lucero, Danielle Olguin, Darren Olguin, Devon Olguin; great – great grandchildren Clayton Davidson, Janessa Bachicha, Landon Sanchez; siblings Tila Gallegos, Edna Gallegos, Lillian Arellano and one brother Elias Arellano; special God Son Bobby Gallegos and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be missed by all. Viewing will be Sunday 2-6 pm, George McCarthy Funeral Home, Funeral Mass Monday 10:00 St. Leander Parish, interment, Roselawn Cemetery.
