Mary Amada Montoya, 94, entered eternal life on August 27, 2012 at home with her family. She was born January 23, 1918 to the union of Manuelita and Frank Martinez. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe; parents; brothers Emilano, Arsenio, Celestino, Susano, Baloy and Pablo; sister Ersie; son Leroy; daughter Sylvia Valdez; grandchildren Larry Mondragon, Arthur Valdez Jr., Mike and Debbie Bachicha; sons-in-law Arthur Valdez and Eloy Zamora; special friend Celestino Aldaz. Mary is survived by her sons Charles, Dennis (Virginia); daughters Gloria Robinson, Joann Martinez, Dolores Montoya and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She retired from St. Mary Corwin Hospital after 25 years of service in the housekeeping department and later volunteered for SRDA serving lunch at the senior citizen’s Minnequa Apartments for 23 years. Mary enjoyed listening to Country-Western music, reading and doing word search puzzles. She had a great sense of humor, was always telling jokes and sharing family stories. The family would like to express appreciation and thanks to Sangre de Cristo Hospice staff especially Johanna, Diane, Shawna and Deacon Jake for the high quality service they provided to our mother and family. At her request, there will be no viewing. Vigil Service will be held today 7:00 pm with Funeral Mass Friday 11:00 am both at Holy Family Church. Entombment, Imperial Memorial Gardens.
