A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, June is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dale; and her children, Rondalyn (Steven) Mann of Aurora, CO; Mark of Aurora, CO; Kevin (Donette) of Merced, CA; and Shari (Brian) Elson of Pueblo. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Stacia Mann; Timothy, Andrew (Ashley), Ryan, Patrick, Christopher and Natalie Van Pelt; Sean, Laura and Morgan Elson; as well as by her brother, Clifford (Mary) Morgan of Payette, ID; her sister, Shannon (Gary) Howell of Monrovia, CA; her brother-in-law, Tom Alex of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; and several nieces and nephews and their families. June was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jeffrey Mann; and her sister, Sheryl Alex.
June and Dale lived in various locations over the years. They started their life together and their family in Carroll, IA, and then moved to West Chicago, IL. After leaving West Chicago in 1976, they lived in several Colorado cities; first in Pueblo, then in Littleton, Canon City, and then moved back to Pueblo.
Over the years, June delighted in spending time with family and friends. The friends and neighbors they have had over the years have been a blessing, especially those current neighbors who have been so kind to visit with and check in on both June and Dale. June has always been a dog-lover, and visits from the four-legged neighbors would also brighten her days! The family wishes to thank all of you for your generosity and love.
June always had a passion for gardening and had many wonderful flowers in her yard. Although she wasn't able to do as much gardening in later years, she continued to enjoy her flowers her garden and watching the birds in it. She particularly enjoyed the Orioles and beautiful little Humming Birds and took great care to keep them fed.
Memorial Mass will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at Christ the King Parish, 1708 Horseshoe Drive, Pueblo. Donations may be made directly to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the charity of your choice.
We strive daily for an eternity with our Lord, and it is comforting to know that June will no longer be bound by the limitations and frailness of the human body. She is free.
I Thessalonians 5:16-18 – “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first; then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
John 14:1-4 – “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house there are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.”
Thank you to all who have cared for June over the past couple of months. Your kindness, understanding, and compassion are greatly appreciated.
