Our mother, Marie C. Filler, 100, passed away on June 2, 2016 in Denver. Born in Pueblo on May 11, 1916 she was the daughter of Charles and Angelina (Muzzio) Manbucca. Orphaned at the age of five, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Julia and Gabriele Altamore. Marie graduated from Minnequa School of Nursing in 1942. She married James L. Filler on November 27, 1943 in Salina, Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2001. After the war, our parents lived in Clifton, New Jersey, where Marie worked as a registered nurse at St. Joe’s Medical Center in Paterson until 1981. Our parents moved to Broomfield, Colorado in 1988, where they were parishioners at Nativity of Our Lord Parish. Marie is survived by her daughters, Robbie (Gary) Berlin of Broomfield, Susan Kendal of Paterson, New Jersey, and brother-in-law Robert Filler of Stockton, New Jersey. Marie was preceded in death by her sisters, Theresa (Lou) Conty of La Junta and Lucille (Warren) Diodosio of Pueblo. Mass will be celebrated at Shrine of St. Therese at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 7th with Interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be sent to Denver Hospice, 501 S. Cherry Street, Suite 700, Denver, CO 80246-1328, or to your favorite charity.
