Maria Westendorp “Westy” Bush made her transition on December 27, 2021 in Pueblo, CO. Maria was born on February 15, 1934 Maria is preceded in death by her parents Willem and Mary Westendorp. her brother Ray Westendorp and her son Val Kleitz. Maria is survived by her beloved husband Tom Bush and her son Ray Kleitz.
A long time resident of Pueblo, CO, Maria loved to paint, sketch and teach others about art. Maria was as an art teacher for the Prison Program at Adams College, gave workshops, and taught art privately. Maria’s art work was shown at many art shows and in many galleries. She was an illustrator for several children’s books written by Cecelia Sanders. Maria’s art work also reflected the country life she shared with her rancher husband Tom Bush. Paintings of horses, cattle and cowboys adorn the Bush home and were presented in many art shows. Maria’s creative talents also included yucca weavings, poetry and stories.
There will be a private celebration of life service held at the family home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice, Pueblo Colorado.
