Margaret Rivas, 73, passed away September 27, 2022 at Memorial Hospital-Central in CO Springs, CO. She was born in Rapid City, SD. She is preceded in death by her sister Erlinda, parents Octavio and Julia Rivas, husband of 10 Years, Louis Vigil, Grand-daughters Julia A Rivas and Sara G Bookout, nephews Arthur J Rivas, Jr and Ismael (Smiley) J Rivas.
Margaret graduated from Centennial High School in 1966. She was active in the Girl’s Pep Organization (Centennettes), and the Contemporary Society. She was employed in “banking” for 35 years (served as President of the Sunsational Chapter of Credit Women’s International 1985) and 10 years in the “funeral home” business as an office manager. Most recently, she was an active member (Secretary) of God’s Plan of Salvation Christian Church. She took pride in family, she was a leader, and caretaker for her elderly parents. She actively participated and took pride in planning the Gallardo Family Reunions.
Margaret enjoyed sewing, crocheting, fishing, making “homemade tortillas”, and teaching her daughters & granddaughter to prepare family recipes. She loved “The Lord, her Savior” and was a Sunday School Teacher of young teens, and active in fundraisers for the church.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Antonnette Marie (Gary) Bookout, Stephanie M Rivas, Melissa (Vince+4) Gatti and Antonio (Sheila+3) Vigil. Grandchildren Samantha, Jacob (Billie Jean), Jeremy M Bookout, Ruben L Rivas, and 3 great-grandchildren. Siblings Louise (Colin) Bottem, Octavio, Jr (Mary Ann) Rivas, Gloria Sena, Arthur J Rivas, Sr (Sandra), Carmela Baca (Jim), Carlos Rivas (Diane), and Life Long Friend, JoAnn (Jaquez) Ferguson. Her extended family includes: Aunts and Uncles, Cousins, Nieces & Nephews, Neighbors, Church Family, as well as many lifelong friends who were all “dear to her heart”, whom she cherished.
