Josephine C. Herrera, 77, passed away Sept. 24, 2024, at The Center at Park West. She was the loving wife of Alejandro Herrera Sr., who she shared 59 beautiful years of marriage with. Josephine was born to the union of Emilio and Stella Valdez on Sept. 18, 1947, in Pueblo, Colo. She attended Pueblo Centennial High and later graduated from Lake County High. Josephine went on to pursue her career in the medical field as a CNA at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital, where she devoted 10 years. She was a member of the local underground women’s card association. Josephine had many hobbies. Some of which included crocheting, bowling and a love for softball. Throughout her life, she had a love for softball, beginning as a young girl. She continued her passion for the sport by continuing to play alongside her daughters. Those close to her will remember her passion for crocheting blankets and giving them to those who were dear to her. Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, godson, nieces, nephews; brother-in-law, Richard; and great-granddaughter, Amara. She is survived by her husband, Alejandro Herrera Sr.; children, Joan Romero, Elizabeth Herrera, Alejandro (Renee) Herrera Jr., Guillermo (Chastity) Herrera; grandchildren, Matthew, Thomas, Andrew Romero, Catrina, Yolanda, Dominic, Lucas, Layla Herrera and Samantha Vigil; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Christopher, Liliana, Cataleya, Adrian, Sofia, Janelly, Theo, Amiahs; siblings, Robert (Tillie) Valdez, Tina (Marty) Santistevan, Lawrence (Grace) Valdez, Joyce (Steve) Moore; nieces, nephews, five godchildren, and numerous other family and friends. A Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by a service at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, at Holy Rosary Catholic Parish.
