26,1946 in Gunnison, Colorado to C.L. “Dick” and Evelyn Slane Dickerson and was raised in
South Park, Colorado. He was married to Bonnie (Bradshaw) Dickerson for 53 years where they
lived in the Colorado City/Rye area for 42 years before moving into Pueblo. He is survived by
his wife, Bonnie and children, Sara Dickerson Brewer, Slane (Lesha) Dickerson of Pueblo; one
sister, Ruth (Robert) Fury; one brother, David (Angela) Dickerson; sister-in-law, Linda (Jerry)
Glass; brother-in-law, Craig (Carol) Bradshaw; 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 11 nieces
and nephews and 21 great-nieces and nephews. John was a lifetime farmer/rancher, graduating
from Lamar Jr. College, moved to Pueblo County to operate Mountain View Feeds, a family
business. He also worked for District 70 in maintenance and as a bus driver in Rye, worked for
Big R 20 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He believed our future was in our children
and coached and supported 4-H and FFA youth and was inducted in the Pueblo County 4-H/FFA
Hall of Fame in 2009. John was a tough old cowboy known for his many stories and always in
his boots and hat. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, September 27, at Brush
Canyon Ranch in Rye, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Pueblo
County Stockmen’s Association, Dickerson Scholarship Fund.
