Joe Mandarich, 88, born to the union of George and Mika Mandarich on June 21, 1924 in Pueblo, Colorado, passed away on April 6, 2013. Survived by his loving wife of 64 years Irene; children, Wayne (Deanna) of Colorado Springs and Elsie (Andy) Schiro of Fort Worth, Texas. He was blessed with four grandsons, Jason, Joey and Jeff Mandarich and Nick Milosevich and five great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister-in-law, Alma Mandarich, and numerous other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jennie Radakovich, Mary Masciotra, and Amelia “Dee” Robinson; brothers, Vaso, Nick and Michael Mandarich. He was a WWII veteran serving in the United States Navy in the South Pacific. He retired from the CF&I as foreman of the boilershop. He had a love for hunting, bowling, golfing and travelling with his lovely wife and family. Joe was a long time member and treasurer of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #145 and the American Legion, Post 203. The Mandarich family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Mary Corwin Hospital and the Sangre de Cristo Hospice House for the wonderful care they provided to their husband and father. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to St. Michaels Orthodox Church, 801 West Summit Avenue, Pueblo, Colorado 81004. Pallbearers are Jason Mandarich, Joey Mandarich, Jeff Mandarich, Nick Milosevich, Doug Mandarich, David Mandarich and Mark Mandarich. Honorary pallbearer is George Pritza.
