James Alan Gilchrist, 85, born January 26, 1931, passed away October 30, 2016. James is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nyla; son Raleigh; sister Doris Mouton; and his brother Walter Gilchrist. He is preceded in death by his sister, Jean Large. James served during the Korean Conflict seeing action from 1951 thru 1954. He graduated from Montana State University, receiving his BSEE. James received the Apollo Achievement Award in 1969 and the Presidential Medal of Freedom Award in 1970 as a member of the Apollo XIII Mission Operations Team. James worked for General Electric, Lockheed Aircraft, Philco and Chrysler Corp. He belonged and was a member of the Air Force Assoc., the Kiwanis Club, American Legion #2, and Eagles Post #2, where he had held the “Golden Eagle” title and volunteered at the Weisbrod Museum at the Pueblo Airport.
