Gilbert "Cookie" Eloy Trujillo, 75, went to be with the Lord on August 10th, 2017. He passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends at the Joni Hospice House. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Yvonne Trujillo; his sons, Christopher Trujillo and Richard DeLeon; his sisters, Rita Gallina, Dorothy Suazo,and Dolores Ortiz; and many grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Beatrice and Joseph Trujillo; and his brothers Alfred Trujillo and Robert Trujillo. Gilbert was born on December 10th, 1941 in Walsenburg, Colorado to Beatrice Lovato and Joseph Trujillo. He attended Central High School. Always being a hard-worker, he was employed with the Department of Defense (U.S. Army) for nearly thirty years. Being a lover of the outdoors, Gilbert spent a great deal of time fishing, hunting, and camping. He enjoyed to gamble - going up to Cripple Creek and playing poker with sisters was his favorite. Having an old soul, he took pleasure in listening to oldies, such as James Brown and Bill Doggett, and caring for his 1965 Ford truck. He also loved the Broncos and had a big sweet tooth. "Cookie" could never get enough chocolate cake! Services will be held on Friday August 18th at 11:00 am at Imperial Funeral Home Chapel. Donations for medical bills and condolences may be offered after the services.
