Born in Boone, Missouri, he was the son of Edythe Saunders and Harold Allen. He graduated from Meritt Hutton High School in Northglenn, CO and served four years in the United States Navy where he was awarded three bronze stars. He retired from Frederick Printing in Denver, CO where he worked as a Lithographer/Design Engineer for 50 years.
He enjoyed racing cars, playing tennis, roller blading, playing chess, playing guitar and singing, and riding his motorcycle. He will be remembered for his wit, caring heart, story telling, joke telling and his obsession to do any task at 200%.
He is survived by one daughter, Trina Marie Shoy ( Mark Shoy), grandchildren, Cassandra Angeline Green (Doug Green), Alexandria Laurenn Castleman, Vanessa Kaylynn Galvin (Brandon Galvin), Marquel D'angelo Shoy, Tamara Madison Shoy, Maya Miranda Shoy.
Great grandchildren, Mila Jewell Galvin, Alexander Mark Anthony Hurd, Hayden Lyle Galvin.
Other family members include two sisters, Barbara Jean Knowles, Shari Lee Heun, Nephew Sean Michael Knowles ( April Knowles), Niece Michelle Rene Gallegos (Josh Gallegos), Nephew Justin Matthew Heun. Great Nephews Stefan Varnett (Lys Varnett), Brandon Knowles, Great nieces, Isabella Rene Gallegos, Addison Mae Gallegos. One cousin and very special friend, Jerry Hanson.

Special thanks the last two years to the wonderful care workers at Villa Pueblo, and the last three weeks of his life to the workers, nurses, and chaplain at Gentiva Hospice. He was eternally grateful to all.
A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 4th, 2025 at Villa Pueblo. A military service to be held at Ft Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO June 2025. Specific date and time to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Villa Pueblo and/or Gentiva Hospice in his name.
