Frank N. Dwight, 95, departed this life January 3, 2019, to be reunited with his loving wife, Beverley in eternal love and peace. Frank was born in Elkhart, Kansas, on June 16, 1923, to Norman Dwight and Myrtle (Coultice) Dwight. He moved at the age of one with his family to Colorado where he resided in the Beulah area and eventually moved to Pueblo until he joined the United States Army Air Corps. He then applied and was accepted to bombardier training, pilot training and officer’s training schools, becoming a pilot in the U. S. Air Force for 20 years. Frank graduated from Central High School in 1943. While at Central he met, fell in love with, and eventually married Beverley Williams on November, 11, 1944. He and Beverley were married 65 years until her death in 2009. As a pilot, electronics and communications officer, detachment commander and staff officer in the Air Force, Frank traveled extensively, visiting much of western Europe, Italy, North Africa, the Middle East, Central and South America, and Hawaii. He was stationed in Germany and Labrador as well as various air bases in the United States. His last assignment was with the Military Air Attache Group in Brussels, Belgium, as an electronics advisor to the Belgium Air Force. In 1963, Frank retired from the Air Force and moved his family back to Pueblo where he embarked on a second career at the C F & I Steel Mill as a practicing engineer. Frank was a member of the Pueblo Calf Roping Club for many years. His love of horses led him to breed quarter horses as a hobby. He quickly traded his uniform for cowboy attire. He enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting, and packing into the back country on horseback with his brother to hunt for several years. He also made a trip to Alaska to hunt and fish with his old Air Force buddy. Frank was an avid baseball fan. He particularly enjoyed watching his grandson, Michael DiOrio, pitch against the Sky Sox at Sky Sox Stadium. He loved going with his son, David, to the Rockies games. In his later years, you would often find him enjoying various sports on his television. Frank was well accomplished at fixing anything that needed fixing for family and friends. For all his interests, he often would tell you that his family was the most important thing in his life. He loved being a father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a good son and a devoted husband. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Beverley, his parents, and six adult siblings: Pearl Eiland, Mabel Russ, George Dwight, Ethel Russell, Bessie Downey, and Ruth Caple, and four siblings who died in childhood: Harvey, Jack, Claude, and Maxine. He is survived by his daughters, Diana Miles (Gordon) and Kay DiOrio and his son, David Dwight (Dee Dee); grandchildren, Stacy Andrews (Tim), Michael DiOrio (Richelle), Zakary Dwight (Erica), Kaylee Dwight, Andrew Orr, and Ashley Rinaudo (Paul); and great grandchildren, Lincoln Andrews, Jordan Andrews, Cade DiOrio, James Camacho, Jenay Dwight, Jenessa Dwight, Gioia Rinaudo and Asher Rinaudo.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home, 329 Goodnight Av., Pueblo, CO 81004. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 10, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 85 Stanford Ave., Pueblo, CO 81005 followed by interment at Imperial Gardens Cemetery.
