Fermin G. Cordova

Fermin “Shorty, Minke” George Cordova of Pueblo, CO left this earth on February 8, 2024. Our hearts and our souls are heavy with his loss. Fermin died peacefully in his home at the age of eighty-eight.

Fermin was born on September 21, 1935, in Gardner, Colorado to Elbert and Lucy Cordova. He graduated from Centennial High School in 1954. He married Marie (Cleo) Cordova, the love of his life, in 1960, whom he longingly anticipated joining in heaven, after 54 years of marriage.

Preceded in death by his parents Lucy & Albert Cordova, and by his brother Tom Cordova, sister Mary Cordova, granddaughter Melissa Gonzales, and grandson Joshua Cordova.

Fermin is survived by his 4 children, daughters Christine Pino and Patricia Gonzalez, and sons Frank Cordova (Jen) and David Cordova (Marcy); 3 sisters Ida, Marie, and Shirley; and 11 grandchildren, Danny (Passion), Adam, Chelsea, Amanda (Josh), Melanie, Brandon, Andrew (Aubrey), J.T., Alex, Jake, and Malia; and 10 great grandchildren.

Fermin was passionate about his family, his faith, gardening, the Broncos, Rockies, and fishing. He held the State Championship record in 1954 for fastest pin for Pueblo Centennial High School. He was extremely proud to serve our country as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was an active and devout member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and gave faithfully to St. Jude’s Hospital.

A Viewing will be held at Imperial Funeral Home on February 19, 2024, at 5:00pm, followed by a Rosary at 6:00pm. The Funeral is scheduled for 10:00 am on February 20, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2827 Lakeview Ave. Pueblo, CO 81005. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Fermin’s life.
