She was born in Kit Carson, CO on October 5, 1921 ,one of seven children born to Guy & Barbara Lanier. Erma married Louis V. Orazem in 1941. In 1950, Louis, Erma and three children moved to Morrison Avenue where she continued to live until March 2016.
Besides raising eight children, Erma worked hard cooking for the sisters at St. Therese and the priests at St. Patrick, as well as a variety of other endeavors.
She leaned on her strong faith in God to see her through many difficult times in her life. She always thought of others before herself and saw the good in everyone. She loved to cook and entertain with family and spent a lifetime making treasured quilts for her family and friends.
Mrs. Orazem was preceded in death by her husband Louis in 1997 and her son, Vincent, in 2010.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Anna (Wayne) Wilkinson of Colorado City, CO, Joe (Cheryl) Orazem of Pueblo West, CO, Mary Cae (Eddie) Weaver of Muskogee, OK, Ed (Vicki) Orazem of MT/AZ, Guy (Roxane) Orazem of Orem, UT, Victor Orazem of Rockvale, CO and Janet Chandler (fiance’, Steve Nevarez) of Oakley, CA; daughter-in-law, Elaine Orazem of Pueblo; 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; numerous nieces, nephews and other loved ones and friends.
A Rosary Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. A celebration Mass will be held at 10a.m., Friday, March 10, 2017 at Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church, 300 Goodnight Ave, Pueblo, CO.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 1207 Pueblo Blvd. Way, Pueblo, CO 81005, in recognition of the wonderful care given Erma for the past 13 months. The family also expresses heartfelt gratitude to Dr. James Stjernholm, and to friends and caregivers at the Villa Pavilion for their love and service to Erma.
