My babyboy, I cannot believe it has
 been a year, 2me it feels like just yesterday...!!! Words cannot describe just how much I miss U😪..., U R ALWAYZ I my thoughts, and prayers🙏🏼🙏🏼..!!  I hope U are enjoying ALL the things U  loved here,  and also some of the things U were unable 2do here..!! LOVE U SOOOO MUCH💜💕💜, and miss U more than words can say💔😪....!! Rest in heaven Mijo...!! Eric was my 1st born nephew I lived in a different state and didn't get the chance to know him as well as I'd like to have but I do  remember playing with him telling him he was my best friend and him calling me tia he was so small he was our miracle baby and I'm glad the Lord blessed him with life experiences before taking him home...I'm Sorry Eric that Tia Angelica wasn't there as often as she should have been but know I never stopped thinking or loving you. Its so wonderful to see and hear how  full of love and happiness you were. I'm glad you had an amazing journey and hearing how strong your were not letting anything knock you down and keeping a smile on ya face reminds me of me 😜 I love you mijo I always have and always will❤️  You've Never Been Forgotten & It Won't Start Now ‼️

Throughout life, people see us through different lenses, and hence different aspects of whom we are processed differently be each of us. Only those whom we are really close and live with get to see a more complete picture of whom we are. 

	As is cardiologist, I obviously focused a lot on Eric’s heart condition, but because of his complex condition, I  was lucky to see Eric a lot, and get a deeper sense of whom he was beyond his heart condition. 

One of the most obvious aspects of Eric that all of our team got to see was how much of a devoted son he was, and how much he loved his mom. Every day when we came in to see Eric on morning rounds, we were not allowed to talk to him and discuss how he was doing and what our daily plans were until his mother was on the phone with us. He always looked forward to seeing her and insisted she was involved with everything. 

I think the photograph Jacqueline choose for his memorial sums up Eric’s personality more than any words from any of us. That is a photo from one of his trips to clinic to see us. That picture shows that despite coming to a doctor’s visit, he was in great spirits and clearly wanted to be remembered not for his heart condition but for his smile and lovable personality. 

I often wonder what it would have been like being born during a different period in time. If Eric was born when I was born, he would not have survived past infancy. Hence, we are all lucky that he was born when he was, so that he could survive this long and be a part of our lives. I am lucky that I was born when I was so that he could be big part of my life these past 8 years. Eric we will miss you a lot, but we know that were you are now, you can play all the basketball you want, un encumbered but oxygen tubing, and revel in a continuous religious retreat.  

I had the pleasure of working with Eric at his day program in Parker, Colorado. Eric was so fun, friendly and witty. He was popular with his peers and loved by the staff. We all miss Eric tremendously and are sending love to his family and friends.  

I've known and cared for Eric for a long time through the ACHD clinic.  He was such a joy to care for.  He had what many would consider overwhelming health challenges.  But Eric tackled every challenge with a smile on his face and grit.  I loved talking to him about sports, his drawings, and his love for his mother.  Over the last couple of months, while his heart was tiring, I sometimes wondered who was taking care of whom?  When I walked into his hospital room one day, the first thing he said to me was "I'm OK Ann."  Like he was reassuring me that he would be OK, no matter what happened.  And he is...peaceful now.  Having lived a brief, but impactful life.  We will miss you Eric.  You will forever be in our hearts and memories.

I know I speak on behalf of the whole cardiology team at UC Hospital in saying that we're going to miss Eric tremendously. Although we always wanted to keep him out of the hospital, I can say selfishly that seeing Eric was always a highlight of my day. He was such a special person who loved video games, sports, and most of all his artwork and his family. Living with Eric's complex heart disease was pretty much a full time job, yet he enjoyed so much more of life on top of it. He was always concerned for others, even when he was feeling sick. In fact, before Eric passed, he encouraged me to share some of his experiences with other young people with heart disease, and that will be part of his legacy. A life well-lived. We will miss him so much!

Eric was an amazing person. I always enjoyed the time he and I spent together, he was insightful, caring and had a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed. 

Eric and I loved watching the Movie the Sandlot Eric always called me Smalls and I called him Benny - rest in peace God bless you and your Family Eric- Jeremy Jones

😇My babyboy💜....I can't believe you are gone😪I am lost for words, I just hope you know how VERY SPECIAL you were, and will ALWAYS be to me!! My heart is broken💔, . You are FOREVER in my heart!!...Mijo, I will NEVER forget your silliness, and your big brown eyes, and the smile that ALWAYS made me smile..  You ALWAYS made me proud, and also made me proud, of how strong, and brave you were...!! I LOVE YOU SO SO MUCH,  and 😪MISS you MORE than words can say...!! Thank you for being you, and ALWAYS making me, so proud, and happy..!!
