Elsie M. Kent

Elsie Mae Kent, of Durango, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011. She was 95. She was born on Dec. 22, 1915, in Texhoma, Texas, to John and Dora Caple. She married William L. Kent on April 13, 1934, in Texhoma, Okla. They had two sons, Donald L. Kent and William Gary Kent. They raised their family in Beulah, Colo. Mrs. Kent was an active member of the Methodist church and women's circle, Historical Society, Beulah Belles and the Beulah Hobby Club. She moved to Durango in October of 2000 to be closer to her son and his family. She was a resident of Sunshine Gardens for 10 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William L. Kent; son, William Gary Kent; and brothers, Robert and Earl Caple. She is survived by her son, Donald L. Kent of Durango; and brother, Wayne Caple of Sherman, Texas; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at the Beulah Methodist Church. Burial will take place afterward at the Beulah Cemetery.
