May 9, 1944 – July 23, 2022
Russ, of Pueblo, Colorado went to be with the Lord after a brief courageous hospitalization. Russ was born in Brooklyn New York leaving with his family for California in his youth. His father was a career Navy man meeting his call to duty in San Diego where Russ was raised to adulthood. Russ finally settled in Pueblo after marrying the love of his life, Irene. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Edward Russell, and his brother Robert Russell. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Irene; his son Jason (Tracey) Russell of Bakersfield California; his son Raymond Russell also of Bakersfield; two granddaughters Haileigh Christine Russell and Taylor Elizabeth Russell both from Bakersfield. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle by marriage Suzana and Bennie Machado of La Mesa, California. Plus extended family members on the East and West Coasts.
Russ was a man of many interests and endeavors always enjoying the company of his loved ones as well as his close friends. He was exceptionally gifted as a dog handler/trainer, fascinating many with his unique training methods. Russ liked to say that the greatest training effort was training the owner the pet was easy! Along the way he developed many close friendship relationships, too many to list. However, he maintained that extra special relationship with local residents Laura, Jan and Nick, Trudy and Robert, Karen, Linda and Dean, Jim and Flo. Together they brought pleasure and closeness to one another as well as to their canine charges.
Motorcycling was truly the highlight of his life. Life for him couldn’t get any better than a road trip on his Harley, better yet in the company of his closest cycle buddies, Clint, David, Mark, Bruce, plus an untold number of other close friends, Russ spent countless hours tailoring his bike to showpiece condition dedicating it to U.S. Veterans, always available for all sorts of civic events.
His dedication to U.S. Veterans stemmed from his own service to our country. He served honorably in the Air Force during the early 1960's while the Vietnam War was reaching its peak.
Russ earned his Master’s Degree in business from the University of Southern Colorado, Pueblo in 1994.
Russ will be missed by many. We have had the honor to share his time on earth, he is now in the hands of the Lord.
A memorial service for Edward will be held Friday, August 5, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Imperial Funeral Home, 5450 Highway 78 West, Pueblo, Colorado 81005.
