Donnie was a man of deep faith, often sharing the verse from John 3:16 about God's love and salvation through Jesus Christ. He inspired others to seek comfort and strength through prayer, especially during challenging times. His recitation of the Serenity Prayer highlighted his belief in finding peace in what he could not change, courage to change what he could, and the wisdom to discern the difference.

One of Donnie's greatest joys was riding his motorcycle, a passion that brought him immense happiness regardless of the weather. His love for the freedom and thrill of riding reflected his zest for life and adventure.

Donnie celebrated 30 years of sobriety, dedicating his life to Alcoholics Anonymous. His unwavering commitment to helping others recover from addiction was not just a mission but a calling. He fostered a strong sense of community among those he supported and who uplifted him in return.

In addition to his involvement with AA, Donnie embraced Native American spiritual practices, participating in Sundance and sweat lodge ceremonies. These practices deepened his spiritual ties and commitment to community, enriching his life and understanding of spirituality.

For 18 years, Donnie worked as a truck driver, known for his reliability and dedication. He never missed a day on the job, meticulously ensuring the safe delivery of his loads. His journeys took him across many states, showcasing his determination and resilience.

Donnie faced significant challenges, including the loss of his wife, Sharon Ferguson, in 1995. Despite this heartbreak, he raised his daughter with boundless love and unwavering resilience, leaning on his faith in God for guidance.

Donnie's life was a testament to compassion, faith, and adventure. His legacy is one of love, resilience, and spiritual strength, reminding us of the importance of living a life filled with purpose and service to others. He will be remembered fondly for his positive outlook, commitment to others, and the profound impact he had on those who knew him.

A memorial service for Don will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Imperial Funeral Home, 5450 Highway 78 West, Pueblo, Colorado 81005.
