DELFINO “BEAR” APODACA, 80, went to be with the Lord on May 26, 2018. Preceded in death by parents Ermelindo and Anna Apodaca; brothers Max, Henry, Mike, and Nestor; sisters Genevieve Martinez, Lupita Nunines, and Jenny Martinez; also preceded by brother-in-law Nick Cabral, Jr. and parents-in-law Nick, Sr. and Mae Cabral. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Lou (Cabral), daughters Carla (Greg Wrice) Apodaca and Caryn Apodaca; grandson Lyndon Stoudmire and granddaughter Marisa Stoudmire; brother Ben and sister Rita Martinez. He is also survived by in-laws Alta Apodaca, Sally Apodaca and Joe Martinez; also, Rosalie (Herb) Maes and Richard (Sherry) Cabral, and numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren, all of whom he considered his favorites. Del served in the Army, and received his Bachelor’s degree from then Southern Colorado State College. He graduated at the top of his class with a Master’s degree in school administration from Highlands University. He was an Assistant Principal at Corwin and Freed Middle Schools, and served as a School District 60 Administrator. He enjoyed tending his beautiful garden, watching and attending sporting events, playing his guitar and harmonica, and travelling (especially cruises with his wife and family, and a pilgrimage to Europe with his brother, Mike.) He was a winner of the El Camino Christmas Lighting Contest numerous times. Del was a very spiritual man who was faithful in prayer and attending mass. He truly loved the Lord and had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother. A viewing will be from 4-6, Thursday, May 31, at Holy Family Catholic Church followed by a Rosary at 6.
