Survived by his sister, Diana Naron, of Washington State, his son Ron (Chris) Sandoval, daughter Susan Sandoval and grandchildren Andrew, Desirae and Nicholas Sandoval. David had an extensive extended family. Predeceased by his loving wife, Lucia C. Sandoval; and son, James Sandoval.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and camping with friends and family. He loved all kinds of music, especially classic rock, blues and Mexicano. He will be forever remembered as an educator, a Chicano and civil rights activist, and a communicator that reached out to make a difference.
A teacher for over 44 years, his profession took him to Metro State in Denver, ENMU in New Mexico, CU in Boulder, the University of Utah, and locally at CSU-Pueblo. He was an Emeritus of History and Chicano Studies. He authored books and papers which focused on the Southwest, the Santa Fe Trail, and the stories people left behind. As a teacher, he was tough, but inspirational. He will be forever loved.
