Dan was born January 8, 1958 in Grand Rapids, MI to James and Nancy Leavenworth (later until her death Nancy Williams). Dan graduated from South High School in Denver and earned a B.A. degree from Metropolitan State University in Denver. Further, Dan was formally trained as a chef in a prestigious culinary school in San Francisco, CA. Dan is survived by two siblings, James Leavenworth and Gayle Hiester. His brother Phillip Leavenworth passed in 2021 and Mrs. Williams passed in June 2022.
Dan’s career was in food service, often in a hospital environment. He loved the Rocky Mountains and moved back to Colorado to Pueblo from Fayetteville, AR, followed thereafter by his mother and brother Jim. However, Dan exemplified compassion through his service of his fellow human beings, often those living through and as a result of unfortunate conditions. For the last several years, Dan volunteered extensively at the Pueblo Rescue Mission where he was a well-known figure helping residents in various stages of life and life recovery.
Dan was also spiritual, though private, and was a regular member of the Center for Inner Peace in Pueblo.
