family of Curtis Wade High announces his passing. Wade, 78, passed away suddenly at home in Beulah, Colo., on Saturday Dec. 11, 2021. Born and raised in Durham, N.C., Wade and his wife,Jean, moved to Elizabethton, Tenn., to be near their grandchildren, then retired to Colorado where his daughter’s family eventually settled. He loved animals and they loved him! He eventually became a house-cat person, but couldn’t stand the thought of any animal being hungry, so he also took care of strays. He loved westerns in all forms. Louis L’Amour books and John Wayne films were his favorites. He worked as a carpenter, then as a roofer in his youth so he was very handy and could build just about anything. He enjoyed gardening and kept the family (and neighbors) well stocked with tomatoes, cucumbers and other fresh goodies all summer long. He was famous for his chili-beans, chicken salad, and big winter soups. He was also famous for his tall tales and the wildly inappropriate (and very funny) rhymes and songs he taught his children! It was always entertaining to spend time with Wade on the back porch after supper! He loved his family and never hesitated to show them. He was a good man. He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Jean; his son, Dale and husband Efrain Zambran;, son, Scott and his children Kristin and Nicholas; and daughter ,Jennifer Goad, her husband, Greg and their daughters, Jessica, Victoria, Savannah and Olivia; and one great-grandchild, Calvin James Duley. The family will be mourning his loss in private, but encourage everyone to tell their family they love them as often as they can.
