My mom was respected by her family and friends. She was a strong, intelligent, faithful, courageous, giving and loving mother. She never wavered from her morals and values. She impacted the lives of everyone she met. During the past four and a half years it was amazing and inspiring to see the outpouring of support, prayers and love for my mother. I feel honored and blessed to have had a mother like her. She taught me about commitment, following through, putting family and faith first, and having strength in the toughest times. I could always count on her for advice and encouragement. I always enjoyed our daily phone calls on my way home from work. I loved her hugs and hearing her laugh.  She was my best friend and there's no one that will ever be able to take her place.

 My mom was the epitome of love.  She loved her life, her family, and God.  And she did so with no hesitation.  She loved all of us, even when we were hard to love.  She nurtured us with encouraging words and support.  She cared for me and did anything she could to provide me with experiences and opportunities.  But she was more than just a mom raising me--she was my rock and my best friend.  



When we were young, we would walk to and from school together.  Carol and I played softball on the same team at Holy Rosary church.  We spent a lot of time on the west side of Pueblo.  She ran track in middle school. 
 Carol was a gold cord graduate and was a role model to us.  She took advanced classes and strived for good grades.  Attending college and continuing her academic endeavors was really important to her.  
I always tagged along  going with Carol and Tony on their outings.  
After we both got married, we double dated before we had kids.  Then after kids, we dressed our kids as twins.  We bowled together and babysat each other's kids.  
When I considered buying Belmont Senior Care, she told me, "I think you can do it."   After acquiring BSC, I specifically remember handing her a box of financials,  she realized that payroll was coming up and was able to find unpaid debt.
Later in life, when I had the opportunity to run for the school board, she encouraged me by telling me, "I think you should do it."
She was my (all of our) biggest cheerleader.  She would ask, "Well how do you know if you don’t try it? "
We played, worked, laughed, and cried together.  We logged thousands of hours on the phone having marathon phone calls.  She was my biggest confident.  I could talk to her about anything.  She was always my safe place, and hopefully I was hers.  She was my first best friend.


She was such a supportive and loving person.  She was a woman of strong faith and always put her family first.  She was the rock of the family and we could all count on her to be there for anything.  She was like a second mother to a lot of us.  She was the one to go to for advice, keep us in line, or cheer us on at any endeavor or event we had going on.  She is one of the strongest women I know, and she never let anyone feel sorry for her. Her strength is an inspiration, and she will be greatly missed.


My grandmother was a huge inspiration in my life. She inspired me to strive for strength, faith and love in everything I do. She loved with all her heart. She never missed a chance to spend time with her family. Any event that my sister and I were a part of, she came to. She picked us up every Friday after school for as long as I can remember, and she would take us bowling, or for ice cream, or to the movies. Her love for us and for everyone shone through in everything she did. To me, she was the embodiment of faith, strength, hope, and love.

She was a devoted family member.  Whenever, whoever, and wherever she was, she was there without being asked.  She lived her life by a code of honesty, integrity, and service to her family and friends.  

My sister was the rock and foundation of our family.  She became like a mother to me from the moment I was born, sitting by my mother’s side every night for my nighttime feedings.  I could always count on her to be there for me no matter what.  She always loved me unconditionally.  


My sister has always been my rock.  She has always given me the best advice from my teenage years to adulthood.  When I became a mother, she was the person I went to for everything.  She was my village.  My sister was the most loving and generous person I know.  She always showered her family with her love, by giving them her time, her advice, or just being there when they needed her most.  

I'll never forget my visits from Denver, Bell Games, playing rummy and poker till the sun comes up and that one time you tried to get me to eat pickled pigs' feet.  There was always love and warmth.

When I first met Carrie, she thought I was staff at Sarah and David's wedding.  Once she knew I was Dre's boyfriend, she was so welcoming of me into the family.  She was so sweet.  I'll miss her terribly. 

My Auntie Carol taught me about commitment and that I could do anything I set my mind to.  She loved unconditionally, and there was always something she found to love in all of us. 

My sister always set an example of courage and compassion that always inspired me.  She taught me about life, love, and loyalty, and that anything was possible.  She had so much more to give, to share, and to teach all of us.  She was always there for her family in her own special way.

She got me a sign that said, "For you, I thank the stars."  From that day on, that was our saying with each other. 

My nina was like a mom to everyone.  She never missed an event and never judged.  She was the easiest person to talk to and get advice from.

Funny Story:  In middle school, during geography, Mr. Smith told us his wife had twins--twin boys.  Carrie said, "You should name them Pete and Re-Pete!"  Ha ha ha ha ha. <3 Inez

She was always there to support me in everything I did.  She was there for every dance recital and often stayed the whole day.  We took pictures after every recital, and she supported me in all of my competitions and cheered me on.  We shared a love of similar music and enjoyed playing new songs together in the car.  My grandma and our memories will always hold a special place in my heart.

My fondest memory is her always being there.  She was the most loving and supportive Nina.  I also love how she would make sure I was happy, like buying me Rainbow Brite after Jessica's birthday.  She was so thoughtful.  :)

Carrie was the best friend ever.  I am a better person for having her in my life.  I will miss her forever, I will love her forever!  Love, Inez

When Brooklyn was in 3rd grade, sometimes Carrie would pick her up from school on Fridays (early release) and she would take her to Target.  I would be there too, and she always had time to chat with me and ask me how my kids were doing.  Always so kind!

Always will remember you.  We have good memories and always remember your chile!!!  Love you, Auntie.

God Bless you Carrie, Heaven received a new Angel.  May God God Bless your Family through these times.  Went went to Jr High and High School together “Bulldogs.” You were always smiling or laughing.  Your family was Blessed to have you in their lives.  Oscar and Lydia (Sanchez) Lugo. 🙏🏼
