Betty Lee Miklich-Filpi was born Jan. 6, 1935 to Frank “Eff” Joseph Miklich, Jr., and Mary Miklich in Pueblo, CO. She married Gerald Filpi, Sr., Jan. 19, 1957 in Pueblo. Betty passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 surrounded in love by her family. Betty is survived by her loving husband, Jerry; sons, Jerry, Jr. (Jan) Filpi and Gary (Jeanette) Filpi; daughters, Vicki (Joe) Granato, Mary Dee Carter, Christy (Pat) Hyatt; brothers, Robert (Carol) Miklich and Leonard (Robin) Miklich; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was extremely active in her Catholic faith: past president of Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and St. Aloysius Ladies Guild. She was a warrior for unborn children, always speaking up for their rights. She enjoyed traveling with Jerry to see friends and family, reading, painting, and constantly finding ways to better her community. She enjoyed having everyone over for her famous spaghetti sauce and pizza. Her family was always on her mind. She loved them dearly. Rosary Recitation, 7p.m. Wed., Oct. 5, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Rye. Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Thurs. Oct. 6, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment, Roselawn cemetery. In lieu of flowers and food, family requests donations be made to DCCW College Scholarship Fund (c/o Sophie Ruskin 719-542-8133). A special thanks to St. Mary-Corwin for great care and compassion and to all her special friends that meant so much to her. The world was a better place having Betz in it. She is a true shining star.
