Barbara Bouton Walsh died Thursday, September 16 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She is survived by her two sons, John (Pam) Richardson of New York, NY and Doug (Lori) Richardson of Walnut Creek, CA; three grandchildren, Katharine Richardson (John and Pam) and Lucas and Dylan Richardson (Doug and Lori) and her two sisters-in-law, Ann Bouton (Maryland) and Heb Bouton (Florida). Barbara was born on September 23, 1922 in Altoona, PA. Her mother died during her infancy and she was raised by her father and stepmother in Hollidaysburg, PA. She went on to complete her education at Wilson College, despite the death of her father shortly before her graduation in 1944. Over the next several years she taught English and Spanish at schools in New York and Pennsylvania; during this time she met and married John Pratt Richardson. After the birth of their two sons they moved to Kailua, Hawaii. Over the next 20 years, Barbara was a dedicated and loving homemaker and mother. After her split from John R. in 1976, Barbara moved to Honolulu, where she met and married John Emmett Walsh. In 1982, they moved to Pueblo, Colorado where they lived happily until John’s death in 1998. Barbara was able to continue to live in her Pueblo home despite dealing with health issues for the ensuing six years with the loving support of her many friends there. In 2004, she moved to Northern California to be closer to family. As all who knew her are aware, Barbara was an extraordinarily kind, happy, humorous and loving person. She retained these traits all the way to the end, despite several tragedies during her life and declining health in her final years. At her request, she has been cremated and there will be a Memorial Service at Adrian Comer’s Garden Chapel in Pueblo, CO on Saturday, October 16 at 2 pm.
