Anthony Joseph Langoni, 79, born October 21, 1935, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2014. Tony was preceded in death by his loving wife Ellen and their daughter Shawna Langoni. Survived by sons A.J. (Sheila) Langoni and Mario (Julie) Langoni, grandchildren Derek (Katie) Spinuzzi, John Langoni, Gianna Langoni, and Lexi Langoni, great grandson Brody Spinuzzi, brother John (Teddi) Langoni and sisters Carmella Jones, Louise (Ken) Adair and Joann (Oliver) Madrid, as well as numerous relatives and lifelong friends. Tony was a lifetime resident of Pueblo. Tony was a proud member of the Centennial Bulldogs Class of 1954 and was later inducted into the Centennial Hall of Fame. He served his country in the Navy on the USS Hornet. He received a BA from the University of Southern Colorado and a MA from Adams State College. Tony worked extensively in the government and public sector including the Colorado State Hospital as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, as well as Director of Pueblo Parks and Recreation, and Director of Operations for the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo. A dedicated public servant, Tony served on many boards, including Pueblo Diversified Industries, Runyon Field, and Special Olympics. He was also appointed to the National Parks and Recreations forum, representing the mid-west region. He was honored by the city of Pueblo through the dedication and naming of the Langoni Sports Complex at 24th and High Street. Tony deeply loved his family, friends and community and will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. Services will be held Monday, November 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Shrine of St. Therese, 320 Goodnight Ave., Pueblo, Colorado, 81004. Reception to follow.
