Anthony Joseph Aragon, 89 went to be with the Lord on Nov 3, 2015 in Pueblo, Co. He was born Sept. 26, 1926 in Concrete, Co to John De La Cruz and Genoveva Aragon. Anthony married Benita Medina in 1945 they were blessed with three children. Anthony is survived by his three children Lydia Martinez, John and Robert, three grandsons and their wives Paul and Angelica Martinez, Steve and Tracy Martinez, and Sam and Jennifer Reid. Anthony had 10 great grandchildren San Su Rae, Aliyah, Julian, Joaquin, Antaeus, Isabella, Anthony, soon to be born Genoveva, Jake Reid, and Grayson Reid, his brother Joe (Lilian)Aragon, Family Ethel Jones, Glenn Thornton Jr., Chequita Stringer, Skye Young, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
Anthony was proceeded in death by his wife Benita, brothers, Jack Aragon, Henry Aragon, and Gilbert Aragon. Sisters, Minnia Fuentes, Lizzie Bolin, Susie Cruz, Rosie Solano, Emma Medina, and Della Butler.
Anthony Joseph Aragon enlisted in the Coast Guard Sept 14, 1943 as a Seaman 1st class. He attended Boot Camp at TS Alameda, California. Anthony served on the USS Albireo AK90 for 18 months sea duty. As a Shellback in the South Pacific. Anthony also served on a fire boat called the CGC Golden Gate. Anthony was honorably discharged February 18, 1946.
Anthony enlisted in the National Guard on April 4, 1947 as a Corporal. Unit Company “A” 193rd Tank Battalion, Tank Training. Separation date was March 11, 1948
Anthony enlisted in the Army March 11, 1948 as Private 1st Class, He was station at Fort Ord for 3 months. Then he was shipped to Fort Monroe, Virginia. Unit 9381 Training Service Unit Submarine Mine Ordinance Depot for 2yrs.
Anthony was at Aberdeen Proving Grounds Maryland where he was in the 523nd Military Police
Anthony received the Good Conduct Medal GO #5 APG, August 3, 1951 Ranked Corporal
Separation date March 10, 1952.
Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 9, 2015 from 5pm to 7pm at Adrian- Comer Funeral Services.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday Nov, 10 2015 at 11am at Adrian Comer Chapel. Internment and military honors to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends will be received at Fulton Heights Center following internment.
