

William M. Trapp, 96, of Samoset Avenue, died peacefully Monday, March 25, 2013, at Elmhurst Extended Care Facility. He was the beloved husband of Theresa A. (Mulberry) Smalley Trapp for the past sixteen and a half years, and the late Hope (Cassidy) Trapp, who passed away in 1995. Born in Cranston, and raised in the Oakland Beach section of Warwick, he was a son of the late Walter and Madeline (Deitz) Trapp. Mr. Trapp served his country proudly in the United States Navy during WW II, and was a member of the Lymansville Memorial V.F.W. Post 10011, North Providence, for many years. Upon honorable discharge from the service, Bill worked as a dispatcher for Amoco Oil Company for thirty-eight years, retiring in 1982. He also served as treasurer of his local union during his career. An avid golfer, Bill enjoyed playing golf, and was a longtime member of Triggs Memorial Golf Course, Providence. Besides his wife Theresa, he leaves a daughter, Gail Trapp Dunphy, of Naples, Florida; step-children Linda Smalley, Harold Smalley and Paul Smalley; two grandchildren, Heather Dunphy Daley and Kyle Dunphy and two great-grandchildren, McKenna Daley and Hunter Daley. Bill was a brother of the late Walter Trapp. The visitation will be held Thursday morning, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt117) Warwick. Funeral service at 11:00 am in Saint David's on the Hill Episcopal Church, 200 Meshanticut Valley Parkway, Cranston. Burial, with military honors, will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. In lieu of flowers, donations to Elmhurst Extended Care Facility, Activities Department, Music Program, 50 Maude Street, Providence, RI 02908 in his memory will be appreciated.
