William Lawrence Spillane

William L. Spillane, 89, of Providence, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Miriam Hospital in Providence. Born in Providence on August 14, 1927, he was the only child of the late William S. and Mary L. (Shea) Spillane.A graduate of Classical High School and Brown University, he was also a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed for many years as an Engineer for the City of Providence, and was well known for his attention to every detail, to insure the safety of the people of the City. As a fervent catholic, he was a life-long member of Saint Anthony Parish on Plainfield Street.Bill leaves many cousins.Visitation will begin on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 9:00 am, in Saint Anthony Church, 549 Plainfield Street, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Saint Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
