William P. Sitko III, 60, of Johnston, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022 in Rhode Island Hospital. He was the cherished father of William P. Sitko IV. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Dorothy (Frago) Sitko.
A graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, he went on to own his own moving company, BCB Trucking for over 20 years.
Bill had a love for martial arts that spanned his entire life starting in his teens he obtained his blue belt training with John Cabral under John Rubiano in Kumichi Ryu Jiu Jitsu. He then went on to a successful powerlifting career, winning many awards and rankings in the sport. He then began training under Sensei David Petracca, achieving his black belt in Nick Cerio’s Kenpo, moving on to train under Larry Sullivan where he achieved his 2nd degree black belt. Later he trained under Richard Petronelli, making his 7th Dan in Kuntao Jiu Jitsu. He was an extremely knowledgeable and respected teacher of martial arts.
Bill enjoyed playing guitar, cooking and baking. He loved motorcycle riding, and did it for many years. Bill spent many years in the gym training himself and guiding his son Billy, they could be found working out together at Ocean State Gym on occasion. Bill will be missed by many, always telling the craziest stories and getting those around him to laugh.
Along with son, he is survived by two brothers, Anthony Sitko, and his wife Michelle, Michael Sitko and his wife Margret all of Johnston; two nephews, Anthony Sitko Jr of Johnston, and Derric Piccoli of Attleboro, and his Niece (God-daughter) Breanna Sitko also of Johnston; former wife, Carol (Piccoli) Sitko of Johnston; and his two beloved dogs, Brobee and Simba; along with many friends.
Visitation for Bill will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Romano Funeral Home, 627 Union Avenue, Providence, followed by a service in the funeral home at 7:00 PM. Burial will be private.
