Born in Bridgeport, CT, Walter was the son of the late Michael and Stacia (Soja) Swider-Lemerick.
Walter was a Navy veteran and a popular and well-liked bartender in many local establishments before his retirement. He went by Walter, Wally, Walt and Gator but his favorite names were Dad and Grandpa. He lived for his family and especially his grandchildren. He spent countless hours on the field for baseball and soccer games as well as in the audience for dance recitals.
Walter loved the game of baseball and served as a youth baseball coach for many years. He was a lifelong Red Sox and Patriots fan and we are so happy he was able to see another World Series win this past fall.
He is survived by his son, Walter S. Swider, Jr., his daughter, Linda DiMaria; his grandchildren, Joey DiMaria, Nicole DiMaria and Dylan Swider; his brothers Edward Swider, Leo Lemerick and Harold Swider and his sisters, Shirley Medeiros, Stacia DiLello, Carol Samos, and Judy Gagner. He was a brother to the late Michael Swider, Frank Swider, Donald Swider and Allen Swider.
