Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Walter Edward Lane Sr. and Angelina (Gesualdi) Lane.
Walter worked for the State of Rhode Island as a Capitol Police officer until retiring in 2009. He also worked as a bartender for the DiLorenzo’s 1025 Club, Joe Marzilli’s Old Canteen, then for the Lombardi’s 1025 Club, as well as working with his brothers and sons performing concrete work for many years.
He was the loving and dedicated father of Walter E. Lane III and his wife Tracy and Michael R. Lane and his wife Candace; cherished grandfather of Julia, Walter IV, Michael Jr., and Violet Lane; the brother of Sandy, John, and Brian Lane and his wife Dawn; and the uncle of Stephanie Lane and Erica Giammarco.
Walter was a man who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He was a hard-working man who was dedicated and passionate about all the work he did. He put nothing before his family and was always there when help was needed. His charming and quick-witted personality made him tough not to be fond of. We are proud to have him as part of our life and his absence will never be filled.
His visitation will be held Wednesday July 12, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. in the Romano Funeral Home, 627 Union Ave, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 645 Hartford Ave, Providence. Burial will be private.
