Riccio, Victor J., 90, of Kentland Avenue, died Friday at home. He was the beloved husband of Ann R. (Clancy) Riccio. They had been married for 57 years. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, a son of the late James and Mary (Fioretti) Riccio, he had lived in Providence most of his life. Mr. Riccio was a Health Inspector for the Rhode Island Department of Health for 25 years, retiring in 1986. As a member of the United States Navy, he enlisted in 1937, served during WWII as Chief Petty Officer, and was later assigned to serve in Central America, Europe, and Convoy Duty in the North Atlantic. During his career, he had also served at the U.S. Submarine Base in New London, Connecticut. He was an accomplished amateur boxer, and won the Navy Fleet Championship in the lightweight division. He retired from the Navy in 1963. Mr. Riccio attended Hillhouse High School in New Haven, and Johnson & Wales University before enlisting in the Navy, He was a communicant of the Holy Name of Jesus Church for many years, and was an avid sports fan, especially tennis and golf. Beside his wife, he leaves five sons; Vincent J. Riccio, John M. Riccio, Eugene D. Riccio, (P.P.D.), Kenneth V. Riccio, (P.P.D.), David P. Riccio, (U.S. Dept of Homeland Security), a daughter; Carol A. Riccio, a brother; Gene Riccio, a sister; Adele Torello, and four grandchildren; Elizabeth A, Riccio, John F. Riccio, Catherine A. Riccio, and Grace F. Riccio. He was a brother of the late Fred Riccio, Leonard Riccio, Margaret Matthews, and Nancy Levi. The funeral will be held Tuesday, at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in The Lady Chapel of Holy Name Church, Camp Street, Providence.
