Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Catherine (McKenna) Madden; father of Thomas Madden and wife Mary of Plymouth, MA, Deborah O’Connor and husband Mike of Dover, NH, Patricia Coughlin of Cranston, Kathleen Walaska and husband Mark of Queensbury, NY; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brother of the late Edward Madden and Kathleen Shawcross.
Mr. Madden was a graduate of LaSalle Academy, a member of the greatest generation; he proudly served his country during WWII in the 5th Photo Group Reconnaissance of the 15th Air Force in Italy. He worked as a route salesman for H.P. Hood and Sons Dairy and also as an electrician for Local 99. He was an usher for St. Edward’s Church, Providence and spent many years as a manager of teams in the Smith-Hill Wanskuck Little League. He enjoyed traveling and get-togethers with his family. He was a renowned home gardener.
Visitation and funeral will be held Tuesday, 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Edward Church, 997 Branch Avenue, Providence.
