Susan M. Romano, 60, passed away peacefully at home on February 13, 2016. She was the beloved fiancé of Ronald L. Gelineau. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Belarindo “Ben” and Gloria L. (Beretta) Romano. She was the sister of Bennie J. Romano and Carol J. Clark, and aunt of Walter A. Clark and Christopher J. Romano.
Susan was a native Rhode Islander and graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, and Johnson and Wales University. Susan retired after a long career at Fatima Hospital and went on to work a number of years at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of RI. A beautiful angel that came in to this world and blessed us all with her infectious personality, kind hearted nature, and deep love for family and friends. Susan always loved the warm weather, the sunshine, and traveling. She was a Red Sox and Bruins fan, as well as a huge music fan and had attended numerous concerts throughout the years. She enjoyed the theatre and attended many shows in Boston, the Providence Performing Arts Center, and Theatre by the Sea. Susan loved life and was always an adventurer ready to embrace the next new experience. She loved to surround herself in nature, and spend time at the ocean. She was a member of the Audubon Society of Rhode Island, and Roger Williams Park Zoo. Susan was a light in this world for many, and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held Wednesday 4-7 p.m. with her funeral on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Audubon Society of Rhode Island www.asri.org
