Stephen C. Mackie, Esq.

Stephen C. Mackie, Esq., 80, of Providence, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Janice M. (Reilly) Mackie. They were married for 54 years.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph C. and Anne (Donohue) Mackie.

Steve was a graduate of Townson State University in 1969, Baltimore, MD, and a 1970 graduate of University of Baltimore Law School , MD. He joined the Rhode Island Bar Association in 1973 and in 1974 he was admitted to the United States District Court in Rhode Island. His career spanned over 42 years as a devoted attorney to his clients at Mackie and Reilly Law Office, before his retirement.

In his spare time he was an avid history buff, he enjoyed politics, and spending quality time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Janice, he leaves two daughters Michaela A. Vaccari, of Seattle, WA, Kathleen M. Parenteau and her husband Leo of Smithfield, three sisters Ann Davis of East Falmouth, MA, Eileen O'Brien of Warwick, RI , and Dorothy Whitelaw of Foster, RI, as well as three loving grandchildren, Ryan, James, and Joseph, and many nieces and nephews.

Steve's funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 8:45 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Interment will be private.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 4:00 -7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Providence Center, 528 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 or Hope Health 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 would be appreciated.
