Robert J. Jordan, Jr, 50, affectionately known as Bob or Bobby to his friends and family, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes in Columbia, SC on February 22, 2021. Born May 8, 1970, he was a graduate of Middletown High School, RI (1988) and went on to attend Northeastern University, MA (1988-89) before enlisting in the United States Army Infantry 10th Mountain Division, stationed in Ft. Drum, NY (1990-1994). He served proudly and honorably during times of conflict undergoing deployment numerous times. His current management position with DXC Technology brought him to South Carolina for a new job opportunity. Until his recent move to SC, he lived most of his adult life in Middletown/Jamestown, RI. He was an avid reader, gamer and enjoyed movies in his downtime.
Although Bob was extremely private, he enjoyed being social with his close group of friends and coworkers and made an impression on all whose lives he touched. He was a man of few words but had a deep soul, and if you were lucky enough, you saw glimpses of his depth in private conversations or on occasion when he would quote lines of poetry that showed his vulnerable spirit. There was so much more to Bobby than met the eye.
Bob is survived by his loving family, his mother, Joan E. (Powell) Jordan, his brother and best friend, Michael E. Jordan, his favorite sisters, Lisa A. (Jordan) Youngs, and Deborah L. Brindamour, along with multiple aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and loved ones. He was welcomed into Heaven by his deceased father, Robert J. Jordan, Sr.
A walk-through visitation will be held in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home (142 Centerville Rd, Warwick, RI) on Tuesday, March 2 from 4-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mark Catholic Church (60 Narragansett Ave, Jamestown, RI) on Wednesday, March 3 at 10:00am. COVID precautions will be in place, please wear a mask and practice social distancing. There will be a private military burial at St. Ann Cemetery (73 Church St, Cranston, RI) following mass. Considering COVID restrictions, there will not be a gathering of friends and family after the burial. The family hopes to memorialize Bobby at a future date when all can come together to celebrate Bob’s life.
In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations in Bob’s honor to Tunnel to Towers Foundation (www.tunnel2towers.org).
