Rita E. (Benjamin) Lessard, 95, formerly of Lexington Avenue, passed away April 14, 2015 at home. She was the wife of the late Ernest W. Lessard for 56 years who operated Ernie's Sharp-All for many years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Avila and Georgianna (Corbeil) Benjamin.
Rita is survived by her only daughter, Arlene R. Chamberland and her husband Carl, of Saunderstown with whom she resided. She is the sister of Elger Benjamin of Naples FL and the late Florence Piette and Yvette Tramonti. She leaves numerous nieces and nephews also.
Rita was a life-long resident of North Providence raised on the Benjamin family dairy farm, enjoying and loving her family and friends throughout the years.
Visitation and funeral will be held Saturday 9:30-10:45 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 a.m. in St. Edward Church, 997 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
