Warwick Raymond D. Cote, 80, of Warwick, passed away peacefully Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Care Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Irene M. (Bailey) Cote. They were married for fifty three years. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late John and Muriel (Peasley) Cote. Ray was a member of the Providence Police Department for twenty three years, retiring in 1978 with the rank of Sergeant. He continued working for the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management for another twenty years. Ray enjoyed his family, fishing, and his beloved dog, Baxter. He was a member of the Providence F.O.P. and the Retired Providence Police and Firefighters Association. Mr. Cote served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Beside his wife Irene, he leaves a son, Stephen F. Cote and his wife, Paula G. Cote; a daughter, Christine A. Coleman and her husband, Robert L. Coleman; a brother, Robert Cote; a sister, Carolyn Bass; and five loving grandchildren. He was pre deceased by his two sons, Raymond D. Cote, Jr. and Michael F. Cote, and his brother, Richard Cote.The funeral service will be held Saturday morning, at 10:30 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt117) Warwick. Burial, with military honors, will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visiting hours Friday, 4 - 7 pm.
