Born in Providence, Norman was the son of the late Charles Gibbs and Helen (Jones) Gibbs of Providence.
Before his retirement, Norman was employed for over 30 years as a Machine Operator for Carol Cable Manufacturing of Lincoln. He was also a member of United Steelworkers, Local 4543.
Besides his former wife, Norman is survived by a son, Norman V. Gibbs (P.F.D.), his grandson, Shane Peter Silva, his daughter, Adrienne Gibbs, two brothers, Walter and Vernon Gibbs, and two sisters, Jeanne Ferrell and Lillian Idlette. He was predeceased by three brothers, Charles, Arthur, and Herbert Gibbs. Norman also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, May 24, 2019 at 10 am, with a service to follow at 11 am in the Russell J. Boyle Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Burial will be private.
