Monica S. Martish, 71, of North Providence, passed away at Fatima Hospital on Tuesday September 14, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late John M Martish, Sr. and the adoring mother of the late Marine Corporal John M. Martish, Jr.
Born in Providence she was the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Doreen “Betty” (Booty) Budlong.
Monica worked in the health care industry as an LPN for 49 years starting at the Oak Hill Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing for 20 years and ending her career at Hopkins Manor for 17 years. She worked in between at Edmund place in East Providence and Hillside in Providence. She was a proud member of 1199 SEIU Healthcare union. Monica loved being a nurse and when asked by her children and grandchildren to retire during the height of the COVID crisis, she replied, “This is what they trained me to do, I can’t leave them when they need me most.” Monica only just recently retired fully in March of 2021 and she will not only be missed by everyone that she came in contact with, she will be missed by all of her “adopted” children and grandchildren and will forever be remembered as Gramma Fuzzy.
She leaves a daughter, Monica Tremblay and her husband Roger of North Providence, three grandchildren, Laurie-Ann Cabana and her husband Kyle of North Providence, John M. Trivisonno of Woonsocket, and Anthony J. Lewis of North Providence, and two loving great grandchildren Adrianna & Vinchenzo Cabana of North Providence.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, at 8:30 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St.Pius V Church, 240 Eaton Street, Providence. Burial will be in Saint Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
Visiting hours Sunday 5:00 – 8:00 pm.
