Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late James Coccia and Philomena “Fanny” DelFarno; beloved wife of Frank M. Bianco Jr.; mother of the late Karen A. Bernardo and her husband Joseph A. Bernardo Sr.; grandmother of Joseph A. Bernardo Jr.; sister of James Coccia and his wife Roberta, Domenic Coccia and his wife Marie and the late Joseph “Sonny” Coccia Sr. She is also survived by many devoted nieces and nephews.
Mary worked at RN Koch in the jewelry department, followed by many years as an employee of the Providence Journal. She had retired several years ago, which allowed her to spend more time with her beloved family. Mary was the perfect example of a family first woman, putting the needs of those she cared about above her own. Her contagious laugh and her kind heart will be remembered by all who had the pleasure to know her. Mary did not require much in this life, all she needed was the company of those she loved and the endless memories that she carried with her that she frequently shared to eager listeners. While she will be missed dearly on Earth, those who knew Mary best will find comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her beloved daughter Karen in the Kingdom of Heaven.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate. A livestream of the Mass may be viewed at www.saintanthonychurch.org.
