

Mario S. Mattera, of Providence, Rhode Island, passed away December 9, 2010. He was the beloved husband of the late Rose (DePetrillo) Mattera and was the son of the late Paul and Anna Marie (Calise) Mattera.
Mario worked at Fain’s Floor Covering for 35 years and was well known in the community as a master craftsman. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 94 and was a veteran of the United States Navy who served his country proudly during World War II.
He is survived by his loving children, Beverly J. Mattera of Windham, New Hampshire, Patricia A. Giardino and her husband David of Providence, Carol Rose Mattera-Enright and her husband Steven of Wakefield, and David P. Mattera and his wife Teri of Ellicott City, Maryland. Mario was also the devoted and proud grandfather of Melissa, Lauren and David Giardino, Steven and Matthew Enright, Kassandra and Christina Mattera, and Alexandra Mattera; brother of Philomena Bertrand, John, Paul, Vincent and William Mattera and the late Vito Mattera.
Visitation will be held Monday, 5-8 p.m. with a funeral on Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Pius V Church, Eaton Street, Providence, followed by burial with Military Honors in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
