Marie A. Quartino

Marie is survived by her daughter Cindy Quartino and daughter in law Heather Dolan. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Barbara Quartino Paolino, brother-in-law Tony Torregrossa, nephews Adam Paolino and Michael Torregrossa, nieces Brianna Paolino, Lisa Torregrossa, Heather Quartino and grandnephew Jack Eilers. Marie was godmother to David Paine and Janie Hadfield.

Marie reluctantly retired at 87 years old from Providence Housing. She worked there for 30 years. She loved getting up and dressed to the nines each day for work. Prior to Providence Housing, Marie worked at Builders Iron Foundry (BIF) in East Greenwich for 30 years and she also volunteered at the Veteran’s Administration for many years.

Marie was a very sociable person and made friends everywhere she went. Marie made life fun. She was the life of the party, and loved sharing food, jokes and good times with her dear friends, many from childhood growing up in Mt. Pleasant. Marie loved to sing around the piano and she and Tom enjoyed going out on the town, dancing and carousing with their friends. Marie loved playing cards despite an unbreakable losing streak. She was an excellent seamstress and painstakingly made curtains and clothes throughout her life.

She moved into The Bridge assisted living when she realized her failing eyesight was starting to present problems. It was there that she met her friend Louis Bochetti. They spent close to 5 years together and truly loved each other. Many thanks to Lou and his family for embracing my mother into their family.

Her visitation and funeral will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024 beginning at 10:00 AM in the PONTARELLI-MARINO FUNERAL HOME, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence followed by a service in the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston.
