Maria V. Gardiner, 80, of Texas Avenue, Providence, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Hope Hospice in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis A. “ Frank “ Gardiner.
Born in Providence she was the daughter of the late Frank S. and Mary ( Tamburrino ) Villella.
Maria was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, had worked as a secretary for Textron and would later work part time jobs as she raised her family.
Maria is survived by her son David F. Gardiner with whom she lived, her brother, Michael Villella and his wife Elizabeth of North Providence, her sister in law Audrey Villella of Smithfield, brother in law Donald J. Gardiner and his wife Deborah of Tewksbury, MA, also, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Maria was sister of the late Frank Villella and Catherine Ethier, as well as, sister in law of the late Gilbert Ethier.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday April 24, 2023 at 10:00 am in Saint Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
