Born in Providence, RI, he was a son of the late Antonio and Elizabeth (Goode) Perry.
Larry was a graduate of Hope High School, class of 1962, where he played basketball. He worked as a driver for the Providence Drug Company and Technical Materials Inc. until his retirement. To remain active he worked part-time at Target, and he was an avid poll worker during election season to fulfill his civic duty.
Larry spent his leisure time with his family. He often brought them annually to beloved vacations in New Hampshire. He spent a great deal of time with his passions of cycling, fishing, and collecting trains and Hess trucks. He enjoyed listening to records, especially Motown, RnB, and Classic Rock. He regularly tuned into the scanner to follow police and firefighter activity. Lastly, he was a devout Catholic who regularly attended service and volunteered at St. Paul’s of Cranston.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, David W. Cooley, Christine V. Cooley, Warren D. Cooley and Lawrence E. Perry Jr. He also leaves his loving grandchildren, Manny, Brandon, Kyle, Danille, David, Dejon, Ryan, Anjelique, Brianna, Derrick, Damon and Dameon and 16 great-grandchildren, along with many, many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Richard Perry and Barbara Turner. He was the father of the late Donna M. Cooley and brother of the late Mary, Julia, Antonio, Robert, Raymond, John, Bernice, Albert, Anita, Carol, and Sheila.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. followed by his funeral service at 7 p.m. in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul Church, 30 Warwick Avenue, Cranston, RI 02905.
