Kelly E. Flynn, of Smithfield, passed away at Miriam Hospital on Monday, May 8, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Providence, she was the loving daughter of Laurence K. "Larry" and Bernadette (Viti) Flynn.
Kelly was a 1998 graduate of Classical High School. She graduated Assumption College receiving her bachelor's degree in elementary education in 2002, and received her master's degree in reading from Providence College in 2015. Kelly worked as a devoted school teacher in the Central Falls School Department for 21 years, most recently teaching 2nd grade ESL. She had a true passion for helping her students, and giving them an opportunity to succeed in life. She taught in the after school program, strengthening their math and reading progress. She enjoyed going on monthly field trips to the roller skating rink and the movies. Kelly loved life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Kelly coached Girls On The Run, helping girls gain self esteem and physical strength. She played on an over 30 softball team in fall and spring.
In addition to her parents, she leaves her uncles, Daniel and Terence Flynn, Robert Marino, cousins Bethanie Calvitto, and Kimberly Flynn, godmother Carol Severance. She was the granddaughter of the late Benny and Sylvia Viti, and William and Joan Flynn, niece of the late William F. Flynn, Jr. and Mary E. Marino.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, May 15, at 10:00 am in St. Augustine Church . At the family's request, calling hours are respectfully omitted and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Girls On The Run Central Falls Schools 934 Dexter Street, Central Falls, RI 02863 in her honor and memory would be appreciated.
