Karen grew up in Providence, where she attended and graduated from Hope High School in 1969. Karen lived in Cranston for almost 40 years, where she raised her five children. Karen worked for the Arc of Blackstone Valley and for Rhode Island Hospital, and had a passion for helping others in need. Karen was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and family. She was always willing to help and put others needs ahead of her own. She loved the beach and had an appreciation for nature.
Karen is survived by her son Howie G. Reiner and his wife Nina, son Jonathan J. Reiner and his wife Aimee, daughter Susan E. Reiner, daughter Kristin L. Quinones and her husband Sam, son Michael M. Reiner and his partner Christina; grandchildren Logan, Luke, Shawn, Colby, Ellery, Emma, and Annabelle; sister Kathleen L. Waters, brother James E. McElroy, brother John “Jackie” McElroy, sister Maureen E. McElroy; and many other family members and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours between 4-8 pm on Monday, June 17 at Russell J Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence, Rhode Island.
Her funeral will begin on Tuesday, June 18 at 8:45 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 18 at St. Raymond’s Church, 240 North Main Street, Providence.
Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
