To her, kindness was just her way. She saw it as nothing special. But, to all her friends and family, it didn’t go unnoticed. If there was a friend in need, Judy would be the first to call to see what she could do to help and placing her needs secondary. Her help could be big or small but almost always without fanfare or the need for attention. In fact, she would shy away from the limelight.
Speaking of the limelight, Judy was always willing to help out and volunteer at a charity.
Most notably, her quiet devotion and efforts over 12 years for the John "Duffy" Dwyer '76 Endowment Fund, named in memory of her late brother, John "Duffy" Dwyer Class of 76 at La Salle Academy, was monumental. This fund has and continues to give scholarships to deserving students at LaSalle Academy.
Growing up fast, Judy took on the role of mom to her brothers, Jim and the aforementioned John "Duffy" Dwyer while also caring for their mother who was afflicted with MS.
Sadly, Mrs. Dwyer passed away only two months after Judy's brother "Duffy" died after a long courageous battle with cancer. It was a time of unbearable sadness for Judy but somehow her kindness and concern for others never wavered. Again, a super power that the world could learn from.
It should also be noted that Judy has also been the caregiver to her younger brother Jimmy where they have lived under the same roof since 1982.
Judy was a graduate of St. Pius School in Providence and Bay View Academy Class of 79.
Professionally, Judy has worked at Citizens Bank and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of RI in various positions.
It is not an understatement to say that Judy will be greatly missed by all her family, friends, and the countless people that she has helped along her journey. And her kindness and simple, thoughtful gestures, often anonymous, will always bring a smile to all of us left behind.
Judy was pre deceased by her parents, John Joseph and Therese (Hicks) Dwyer, a brother, John Joseph "Duffy" Dwyer.
Judy's Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 11:00 am in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Providence to which relatives and friends are invited. Interment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
